Half Moon Bay Coastside Ecotourism Activities

The Half Moon Bay Coastside offers a wealth of ecotourism activities. Our California Coastside has some of the richest marine reserves and wetlands on the California, small working farms where you can explore a barnyard and dine on farm-fresh organic produce. There is a unique shopping district on historic Main Street, lodging accommodations for the traveler, many tidepooling areas, fishing for wild salmon or albacore tuna, and much more.

Search – Plan – Enjoy

The new Visit Half Moon Bay website has a search capability that allows for searching specific Bay Area Coastside regions for their lodging, dining, activities, & shopping within that area.

Here’s an example of searching the Pillar Point Harbor area for things to do before, during, and after a sun setting at the Pacific Ocean.

Bay Area Things To Do – See Baby Goats

See baby goats at Harley Farms & buy the products of their milk.

Spring is a wonderful time of year when the cold bite of winter has departed and flowers are in bloom. When visiting picturesque Half Moon Bay, make sure to visit Harley Farms where you can see the baby Alpine goats.

Baby Goat Season

Want to see something cute-as-can-be? Head to Harley Farms to visit the adorable newborn baby goats! Bred at Harley Farms last fall, the first of the babies were born in early March, making an endearing addition to the farm’s already impressive herd of goats (the farm has grown from six goats in 1910 to over 200 goats a century later). Lucky visitors might even get a chance to see the babies as they feed, learn to walk and talk, and play around the farm. For maximum cuteness, we suggest visiting Harley Farms now through May to see the goats before they start to get much bigger.  After all, what can make you say “aww” better than a flock of baby goats?Goats aren’t the only animals you’ll find at Harley Farms. Llamas, ducks and chickens are among the other animals living here too. No trip to Harley Farms would be complete without a tour of the grounds, where visitors can get hands on as they milk a goat and learn how to make tasty goat cheese. While you’re there, be sure to check out the Harley Farms Shop and taste some of the award-winning goat cheese made right on the farm.  Be sure to sign up for a tour, as it can get pretty busy!

Visit the Burlingame Museum of Pez Memorabilia

Pez dispensers have been a fanciful part of American culture for generations. The simplicity of the device combined with the seemingly endless array of designs and character heads adorning them have made Pez more than just a candy. Originally marketed as a convenient mint to curb smoking habits (Pez actually derives its name from the German- PfeffErminZ), it later exploded into a unique collectible for young and old. Everything from cartoon characters to corporate mascots and even pop culture icons such as Darth Vader and Spock have topped Pez dispensers. In nearby Burlingame, the Museum of Pez Memorabilia is a must see attraction with the largest display of dispensers around! For more information, visit http://www.burlingamepezmuseum.com
