Have dinner at Pasta Moon: Downtown's best Italian restaurant isn't merely a carbo-loader's dream. It's also where you'll be able to savor the region's coastal freshness and quality with hand-cut pasta, organic produce, and super fresh seafood, game, and meats- -all within a very warm and inviting space. Don't miss the lasagna or wood-oven roasted organic chicken with apricots and almonds.
Day 2 Do breakfast: Load up on any of your breakfast favorites at 3-Zero Café, located across from the tiny Half Moon Bay Airport. Along with killer biscuits and gravy, French toast, and breakfast burritos, they've got a mind-boggling array of omelettes.
Break a sweat: No sense wasting any time when infinite adventures await! Stop by Cowboy Surf Shop to rent a surfboard or boogie board, get the scoop on where the swell's cranking (or not), and hit the waves, or during winter head to Mavericks to watch big wave surfers go face to face with one of the biggest breaks in the world.
Grab sandwiches on killer freshly made bread at downtown's
San Benito House Deli (356 Main Street, 650-726-3425) and enjoy them in the garden picnic area overlooking Main Street.
Chill at your hotel or on any of the spectacular local beaches for the afternoon.
Book the 5pm kayak tour with Half Moon bay Kayak Company, which meanders to dinner at Half Moon Bay Brewing Company: Kick it on the patio complete with ocean views under a heat lamp or next to a fire pit. Or chill inside. Regardless, you can easily load up on fuel for tomorrow's adventure, whether you opt for seared ahi tuna, nachos, baby back ribs, or Dungeness crab cakes- -ideally washed down with a house made draft brew. If you arrive on a Friday, Saturday, or Sunday, be sure to stick around for live music and dancing.
Day 3
Fuel up: Prepare for another pulse-racing day with a strong cup of coffee and breakfast pastries, scrambles, omelettes, or breakfast pizza at Moonside Bakery & Café, a local's downtown hang out.
Go
biking or hiking: You can cruise along oceanfront pathways or hit mountainous terrain complete with majestic redwoods, wildlife, and hidden trails. If you're two-wheeling it but didn't bring your bike, drop by The Bike Works, also downtown (20-G Stone Pine Center, 650-726-6708), which can tell you the best rides for your level and interest.
Discover all your options and don't forget to bring plenty of water and sunscreen.
