With autumn in full swing and Halloween and Thanksgiving quickly approaching you’ll want to embrace that warm, fuzzy feeling that the season evokes. It’s more than just pumpkin spice lattes, it’s one of the most simple seasons to celebrate with some easy fall decor that you can add to any room, just use our three simple tips!

Take A Trip to the Half Moon Bay Farmers Market

Gourds

Go to the Half Moon Bay Farmers Market and you’ll find items suitable for your fall decor. Our favorites this time of year are the plentiful ornamental pumpkins and gourds you’ll usually find at the entry of the stores. They’re adorable, inexpensive, edible (yes, edible!), compostable, and—depending on the context of your decorating style—can be elegant or whimsical. We like to mix up the color palette with orange, white, and striped ornamental pumpkins and the interesting gourds ranging in color from white to gold to green. Of course, if you don’t make it to the Farmers Market, when is a trip to Farmer John’s Pumpkin Farm or Tom & Pete’s produce stand not a fun outing?

Forage Through Your Yard, the Neighborhood or at West Main Home

West Main Store Front

It may seem a bit silly, but a stroll through your yard or around the neighborhood can yield some impressive elements for fall decor that will transform your home. Obviously, fallen leaves in every autumnal hue are great elements, but also be on the lookout for pine cones, seed pods, hunks of bark, and twigs. You can arrange them in a basket or a vase or use them as a backdrop or filler in a tablescape. Of course, if you’re not feeling particularly outdoorsy, march over to West Main Home - you’ll never not find something perfect for your decor at this neighborhood gem!

Use What You Have

Tabletop Decor

This is where you really have the opportunity to get creative. Go through your house and look for things you can add to settings for visual interest. The obvious matches will be those that are orange, gold, brown, or any color that springs to mind when you think of autumn. You can, of course, add candles, but go beyond that and look for things that are more unique, how about cans or spices or grains from the pantry, kitchen utensils, cutting boards, bowls, or jars, let your imagination run wild! Of course, if you’re not feeling inspired by what you have on hand, visit the cellar at Cottage Industries. This section of their sprawling store is filled with their Rustic, Reclaimed and Recycled collection which works perfectly for fall decor.

Once you’ve gathered all of your fall decor items, create a setting on end tables and niches and, of course, a fabulous fall tablescape in your dining room—it’ll completely transform your home to celebrate autumn.
