AAUW HMB Speaker Series - Choices You Can Make to Help Save Our Planet

April 22, 2024 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Floods, fires, sea level rise? You could say that we on the coast are on the front lines of climate change. April 22, 2024, Earth Day, marks the beginning of the modern environmental movement in 1970. What can an individual or a small group do to help keep the planet livable for ourselves, our communities, and our fellow living creatures? Janet Cox and Mohan Iyer bring extensive knowledge and activism to this existential question.

Janet Cox is CEO of Climate Action California, a non-profit dedicated to science-based solutions to the climate crisis that lobbies in Sacramento and the California congressional delegation. With degrees from Stanford University and the London School of Economics and Political Science, Janet has also run her own consulting firm providing services to SF Bay area cities concerned with water pollution and watershed management.

Mohan Iyer, general partner of IndieBio, part of a SOSV, a global venture firm investing in entrepreneurs making positive environmental change in the world, was educated at University of Tennessee, Duke University, and Yale School of Management. Previous to working at IndieBio, Mohan worked as Chief Operations Officer for Pendulum Therapeutics.
