Collaborating Artists Show Artists Showcase
The Coastal Arts League is pleased to feature exceptional new art by six regional artists from January 24th through February 17th. Each of the participating artists has a singular style, which adds diversity. An exciting new collection of textiles, jewelry, paintings and photography will be on display. The public is invited to meet these local artists at the Opening Reception, Saturday January 26, between 2 pm and 5 pm.
Textile and jewelry artist, Patt Sheldon, experiments with vivid colors and textures. An eclectic and multi-talented artist, Patt enjoys creating unusual pieces through weaving, dyeing, and beading. Patt became an artist after retiring from teaching in Belmont. Realizing artists tend to be isolated in their work, she started a group called Colony of Coastside Artists in 2010. The group meets monthly and sponsors Open Studios on the coast each year before Thanksgiving. Patt shows in her home in El Granada.
Painter, Abbie Murthy has a background in graphic and industrial design. After moving to Montara, she joined the Coastal Arts League and participated in the 2018 Members Show. Her recent work celebrates San Francisco and the Coastside.
Photographer, Mark Murthy grew up on the East Coast, and has always been inspired by scenes of nature. Since moving to California in his late 20's, he has had the opportunity to capture images of its beautiful landscapes, and scenes of the California coast where he now lives with his wife, Abbie D. Murthy.
Ellen Silva is a muralist, graphic designer & webmaster. She is artist in residence at many Bay Area schools, and Art Specialist for the Cabrillo School District. As a fine artist, Ellen paints vibrant, nature-inspired images on recycled fence boards, wood, and canvas. Her creations inspire joy and hope.
Landscape photographer, Kathie Martin says, "Living in Northern California presents rare and pristine areas of unsurpassed landscape and seascape terrain. I am continually inspired by these landscapes. Photography helps to document and educate about natural landscapes, communicating the importance of preserving and protecting the natural beauty of these environments.”
Photographer Linda Rutherford seeks to capture the beauty of nature. As scuba divers and world travelers, she and her husband seek out special scenes of sea life, animals and exotic landscapes. Linda has won many competitions as a member of the Peninsula Camera Club. Her photography is also displayed in the Artists Collective Gallery.
