Half Moon Bay Art & Pumpkin Festival award-winning pumpkin to star on Late Night with Conan O'Brien

This year’s Half Moon Bay Art & Pumpkin Festival brought in contestants from far and wide. With pie-eating and costume contests, live music and vendors present, it was a fun time for all. A local tradition dating back 39 years, the Half Moon Bay Art & Pumpkin Festival has been regarded as’World Pumpkin Capital.’ Contestants stand to win as much as their pumpkins weight with the award set at $6 per pound.Weighing in at 1,658 pounds, the prize pumpkin of the Half Moon Bay’s Safeway World Championship Pumpkin Weigh-off is sure to give the guest couch of Late Night a test this evening as it takes the guest spotlight opposite comedian Conan O’Brien. However, the pumpkin will not simply be sitting pretty. It will stage a face off against the Monster Truck called Gravedigger in a feat that can only be called Truck Vs. Pumpkin. Pumpkin ‘daddy’ Don Young showcased his prize pumpkin at Half Moon Bay Art & Pumpkin Festival and is looking forward to using the seeds inside his massive award winning gourd to grow his next winner.Being on screen with TV celebrities is nothing new to Young who brought his previous award-winning pumpkin to star on the Today Show back in 2007. But somehow a gladiatorial stand-off with a Monster Truck sounds more intriguing… and messier. Young and his pumpkin will face the competition tonight at 11:35 PM tonight.
