Half Moon Bay, a five star coastal resort town with a rural character

A beautiful seaside town with charming small businesses and impressive coastal views, Half Moon Bay is a rarity in that it is also home to some of the finest restaurants and hotels. A thriving art community is situated within Half Moon Bay, but visitors will discover that it has the quality of a rich metropolitan city. Where else can you find luxury hotels and resorts are located beside family-owned and operated eateries and shops?

This coast side community of San Mateo County (about 45 minutes from anywhere in the Bay Area) has managed to keep its rural, down-home culture and at the same time absorb five-star lodgings (a la the Ritz Carlton) and world-class restaurants (Pasta Moon. for example with its 2 Michelin stars). Half Moon Bay’s downtown and Pillar Point Harbor’ about three miles apart. have become tourist destinations. Boutique shops, lodging and restaurants a plenty in both places. Residents and restaurants boast that almost every4hing in this agricultural region is fresh. That includes world-class beer at the Half Moon Bay Brewery which is piped directly from the brew vats to the bar. The Half Moon Bay Bakery makes its popular pumpkin and Portuguese breads in their original 1929 brick double ovens. And the tiny jailhouse on Johnston Street was built in 1919. Close to the jail sits a pretty Gothic church built in 7872. Independent shops downtown offer a surprising mix of art, boutique and the practical. Other festivals play out through the 1rear, but this community. with its fresh food, fresh air and seaside charm, is a perfect getaway where visitors can pretty much enjoy whatever their passion-from golfing to riding horses or lolling by the fire or maybe petting an octopus. Just watch out for the beak.
