The I.D.E.S. Society, also known as the Society of the Divine Holy Spirit, was established in Half Moon Bay in 1871. This organization is distinguished by its emblem, a Red Flag and Crown, globally recognized as a symbol of the Holy Ghost Festival.
Historical records suggest that the Society’s initial leadership in 1871 included John Valladao as President, Manuel Bernardo as Vice President, and Candido Fernandez serving both as Secretary and Treasurer.
The land on which the I.D.E.S. Society’s events are held was generously donated by Mr. and Mrs. Manuel P. Dutra in 1898, and it continues to be the venue for the contemporary Holy Ghost Celebration.
