While it may be thought of as cut-rate eats, the cult of Ramen is not to be discounted. A warm bowl of broth with fresh chicken, egg or pork buried in a sea of vermicelli or rice noodles is simply paradise to fans of the dish. The problem is that just as some Westerners hold a low opinion of the dish, it can easily be served poorly. This is not the case at Santa Ramen, a carefully held secret to Santa Mateo locals as the best spot in town to grab a quick bite. Locally, the restaurant is a resounding success and frequently sells out of ingredients, so expect lines and have an alternate dish in mind for when you reach the window to order… but it’ll be worth the wait.
