Adriene Busch’s art celebrates the Peninsula’s fog, marshlands, and daily beauty—not as metaphor, but as direct muse. Her pieces function as woven journals—mapping gratitude, intimacy, and local wonder.

Busch is deliberate in her material choices. Her use of recycled and natural fibers aligns with sustainability movements and the ethics of slow art. Her materials include wool, cotton, recycled sari silk, yarn blends, hemp, flax, yarn blends, and upcycled clothing.

Her color palette celebrates a range of earthy neutrals—like sand, fog gray, and marsh green—with unexpected bursts of saturated color, such as saffron, indigo, or coral. These contrasts document the shifting moods of the San Mateo County coast, from muted mornings to radiant sunsets.

Busch has been weaving since 2019 and is self-taught. Her seminal piece West Bay: A Love Letter was juried into the 2023 Redwood City Parks and Arts Foundation year-long exhibition, displayed at the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative Center in downtown Redwood City. Busch grew up in the desert landscape of Arizona and is constantly captivated by the lushness of the San Francisco Bay Area. She lives and works in San Mateo.
