The Half Moon Bay Coastside Chamber of Commerce and Visitors’ Bureau Board of Directors is comprised of local business owners and managers.
The Board of Directors is the government and policy-making body of the Chamber. It authorizes the Chamber’s business plan, approves the budget, controls its property, receives and acts on committee and staff recommendations, and directs the general operations of the Chamber.
Nate Serdy, Chair
Compass Real Estate - Termed Until 2022
Nate was born in Half Moon Bay and graduated from Half Moon Bay High School in 1996. He then graduated from University of California at Santa Cruz with a bachelor´s degree in Politics (Class of 2000). He has worked in the service industry since age 15 and in the beginning of 2004 moved from San Diego after working two successful years for one of the top Title Insurance companies in the United States, Chicago Title. From escrow to customer service, Nate experienced the real estate transaction from all sides.
He received his designation as a Realtor in 2004 and has worked with Alain Pinel Realtors since he started. He works alongside his mother, Rose, as one half of a successful real estate team. He is also part of a group of distinguished real estate professionals who are all part of the most sophisticated and technologically advanced marketing firm specializing in distinctive properties and estates, with Alain Pinel Realtors. Nate brings professionalism, technological solutions, and unparalleled enthusiasm to the real estate transaction. He also has a great attention to detail, a constant commitment to learn and earn more real estate designations, and also strive to make any move as easy as possible. His broad base of expertise ranges from a strong knowledge of local neighborhoods and schools, cutting edge marketing practices, negotiating, and staying abreast of the ever-changing real estate market. His ongoing success manifests from the relentless dedication and service he provides to every client, year after year.
He also has a strong commitment to Half Moon Bay and has volunteered in several non-profits. He was the Board President of Coastside Child Development Center and Board Member from 2007-2011, a member of Young Business Professionals and has solely run CYO Girls Basketball of The Coastside since 2005.
Jeannene Minnix Kingston, Vice Chair
Republic Services - termed Until 2023
Jeannene Minnix Kingston is a Recycling Coordinator for Republic Services serving the City of Half Moon Bay. In this capacity Jeannene combines her love of the environment and community in her work educating and encouraging businesses, schools and residents to reduce their environmental impact through recycling and composting. Fondly known as Green Jeannene by her youngest customers, Jeannene takes her job to heart; she is commitment to creating recycling programs that are easy and sustainable while diverting as much waste as possible away from landfill.
Prior to entering the recycling field, Jeannene held community and customer service-related positions for companies in San Mateo County that supported local nonprofit organizations and encouraged volunteerism. Jeannene credits her appreciation of community engagement through business to her first career job working for the Daly City-Colma Chamber of Commerce as the Executive Assistant. Five years later as the Chamber’s CEO Jeannene honed her relationship building skills while managing the Chamber’s membership, board and city contracts. Having this experience gives Jeannene the opportunity to provide unique and valuable insight to the Half Moon Bay Coastside Chamber board. Jeannene lives in El Granada with her husband, Bryan. She is a member of a Middle-eastern style dance troop that performs in venues throughout the Bay Area and a volunteer at a horse ranch caring for horses in their retirement years. Jeannene was born and raised in Daly City.
Bryan Bodas, CFO
BODAS CONSTRUCTION - Termed Until 2021
Bryan Bodas has been a General Contractor on the coast since 1997 and is the owner of Bodas Construction Inc. Bodas Construction is a commercial and residential remodeling construction company focused on serving the Coastside. They have been in business since 2010 and have won Coastside Favorite Contractor 4 years running.
Bryan has lived on the coast for over 20 years with his wife Patricia and children Sophia, Jayda and Mateo.
Peggy Milne, Secretary
Home Helpers In Home Care - Termed Until 2021
Peggy has lived in Half Moon Bay for 24 years. After a career of sales and operations positions, she wanted to do something more meaningful both professionally and personally. She and her husband, Mitch Williams, opened Home Helpers In Home Care in 2012 with a goal to provide compassionate and professional care for people who need extra help at home. From the early days of Home Helpers, the focus has been on helping families cope with the many issues and problems associated with caring for elders and people dealing with long term illness. Peggy is a problem solver by nature, and oversees the operations of Home Helpers from the Half Moon Bay office. Her true passion is being able to meet clients in person to get a better idea of how to help solve their problems. She has been active in the Half Moon Bay Chamber of Commerce & Visitors’ Bureau since 2013, as a frequent Pumpkin Festival wine pourer, a Board member, Chair of the Board, and most recently was the Chair of the Succession Committee.
Ginger Minoletti, Ex Officio
Bay World Travel & Tours - Termed Until 2021
Ginger Child Minoletti began her travel career in 1987 and has been the owner of Bay World Travel since 1997. The business has been a member of the Chamber for 19 years and Ginger has participated in Chamber activities during that time. She is a member of the Rotary Club of Half Moon Bay, Community United Methodist Church, and the Half Moon Bay Yacht Club. Ginger and Bay World Travel have been strong supporters of the Boys and Girls Club, local sports teams, Coastal Rep Theatre, Senior Coastsiders and most every non-profit that asks for help.
In addition to her community activities, she serves as Treasurer of ASTA (the American Society of Travel Agents) and is President of the Board of WESTA (Western Association of Travel Agents). She and her husband Paul have a grown son Chris, who has been working in the agency for the past two years. He is in charge of business development and is assisting with marketing. In a challenging business climate, she feels very grateful that she works and serves in a community that is so supportive of local business.
Dana Dahl, Director
Beach House Hotel - Termed Until 2023
Dana Dahl has lived on the California Coast her entire life and for the past 17 years, in Half Moon Bay. She is the General Manager of Beach House Hotel Half Moon Bay, where she has worked since prior to the hotel’s opening in 1996. During her entire working career, she has worked in the hospitality industry. At the Beach House, Dana is responsible for overall operations of the hotel, overseeing all the employees and the quality product and services of the Beach House, as well as providing personal and attentive customer service for its guests. She is a long time community supporter: she and her husband raised five children in the area, participating in many sports and educational events. It is hard to go anywhere in Half Moon Bay where Dana and her family are not know. She is a true local in the area and an expert as an insider on places of interest in the community. In addition to her work within the hospitality industry in Half Moon Bay, Dana has also worked with San Mateo County Visitors & Convention Bureau for the past five years, promoting tourism and businesses the area of Half Moon Bay.
Rita Mancera, Director
PUENTE - Termed Until 2023
Rita Mancera was born in Mexico City and grew up in Baja California Sur. Rita’s previous work in Mexico gave her a foundation for understanding poverty, inequality and immigration, and a taste for the results of collaboration among agencies. It has been her thirteen years of living in Pescadero and her relationships with local immigrant friends and neighbors that opened her eyes to poverty right next door to wealth, injustice in labor practices and challenges and opportunities of living in an isolated rural community such as the South Coast. Rita has been the Executive Director of Puente de la Costa Sur (www.mypuente.org) since January 2016.
Judith Guerrero, Director
COASTSIDE HOPE - Termed Until 2021
Judith was born in Jalisco and moved to the coast when she was 11 years old. She is a product of Cabrillo Unified School District and after graduating high school she began her college career at the local community colleges to later transfer to San Jose State University. There she pursued a double major in Administration of Justice and Sociology with an emphasis in Criminology. Judith found her passion for non-profit work after volunteering at a local non-profit and decided to pursue a graduate degree in Public Administration. In 2013 she became the Executive Director for the Boys & Girls Club of the Coastside. After five years of serving the local youth, she transitioned to serve our community in a different capacity by providing basic life necessities for all our local neighbors in need. Her current role as Coastside Hope’s Executive allows her to give back to the community that she has called home for the past 26 years.
Chris Mickelsen, Director
Political Consultant - Termed Until 2022
As a lifelong Half Moon Bay resident, Chris Mickelsen has been proud to serve his community since the early seventies. Over 35 years ago community activists recognized the historic value of Half Moon Bay’s downtown by organizing a “Paint In” which offered free paint jobs to our most treasured downtown buildings. Chris’s participation has lead to a lifelong passion for not only preserving the Coastside past but enhancing the Coast’s future.
Chris was thrice elected to serve as a director of Coastside County Water District, on which he still serves. In 2008 and again in 2009 his peers elected him to serve as President, a position which allowed him to continue the modernization of the district to better serve the community.
Chris was first elected to serve as a Chamber director in 2000. Since then the Chamber has grown from 400 to over 650 members. Chris looks forward to continuing his dedication to promoting our Coastal gem with those who choose to enjoy the multitude of unique visitor opportunities the Coast has to offer. Chis would further like to promote a sustainable local business environment to serve the needs of our diverse community.
Dianne Passen, Director
HMB Media - Termed Until 2022
Dianne Passen is a seasoned multi-media specialist with a particular focus in online video. Her passion for discovering what motivates people started at her first management job during summers at Cedar Point in Ohio.
After graduating with a degree in marketing from Miami University, she discovered the Pacific Ocean and has been living and hiking the West Coast ever since. For a gazillion years Dianne worked over the hill in a staffing company that leaped from start-up to national network in what seemed like days.
As owner of HMB Media, she works with a wide network of talented audio and visual folks to create videos that help people strengthen relationships, organizations to communicate ideas and businesses to grow.
Dianne loves everything (almost) about the Half Moon Bay Coastal Community and believes that it is an honor and a privilege to serve on the Board of Directors for the Chamber.
Dr. Brian Sheppard, Director
Sheppard Family Dentistry - Termed Until 2022
Dr. Brian Sheppard graduated from San Jose State University with his Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering. He attended the University of the Pacific Dental School, graduating with his degree of Doctor of Dental Surgery in 2010. In July of 2011 he completed an Advanced Education in General Dentistry Residency in Juneau, Alaska. In November of 2011 he started working with his parents at Sheppard Family Dentistry. Dr. Sheppard swore in to the US Army Reserve in January 2014 and holds the rank of Captain.
Brian is an active volunteer in many communities. He has volunteered at Military Stand Down events, Sonrisas Dental Clinic, and Samaritan House of which he was the 2012 Samaritan House Volunteer Dentist of the year.
