A 1959 musical retelling of The Princess and the Pea, Once Upon A Mattress features a bold and unpolished princess who refuses to play by the rules, a sheltered prince, and a kingdom of characters tangled up in their own problems. The songs lean into comedy, romance, and the occasional showstopper. Plenty of laughs, with real heart underneath.
