“Lacking social connection is comparable to smoking up to 15 cigarettes a day.” Julianne Holt-Lunstad, Professor of Psychology and Neuroscience

Wired for Connection reveals how essential human connection is to our health and well-being, shaping us from birth to old age. We learn that isolation can damage our molecular biology, while relationships have the power to heal. As technology disrupts the ways we connect, the film explores practical solutions for rebuilding a more connected world.

The film follows leading scientists collaborating across decades, continents, and disciplines exploring how and why human connection is essential to the physical and mental health of individuals and society: why we crave it, how it works, and the neurobiological and evolutionary science underpinning its vital importance in our lives. And at the same time, the project embarks on an intimate journey that reveals the precious value of connection as we travel through our lives.
