Santa’s Tree Farm and Village is a cherished family tradition for many who visit the Half Moon Bay area each holiday season. Originating in 1972 from Dan Sare’s F.F.A. high school project, this beloved Choose-and-Cut Christmas tree farm has flourished over the decades. What started as a modest acre of Monterey Pine seedlings on the Sare family’s former dairy farm now spans 70 acres of lush, rolling hills filled with various types of Christmas trees, including Grand Fir, Douglas Fir, Noble Fir, and Concolor Fir. These carefully tended fields offer a picturesque backdrop as families search for their perfect tree, accompanied by a whimsical trackless train featuring costumed characters like Frosty the Snowman.
Beyond tree cutting, the farm’s festive atmosphere extends to The Elves Workshop, a converted dairy barn offering handmade wreaths, charming holiday gifts, and seasonal treats from Mrs. Claus’ Kitchen. Children delight in puppet shows and storytime, while the whole family enjoys hot apple cider. Generations return year after year, creating lasting memories wrapped up in the joy of finding the perfect Christmas tree.
