October is a special season on the Bay Area’s San Mateo Coast. The Coastside is abuzz with activities for every one in the family. Here are some of the events and activities happening in September and October.

FIFTH ANNUAL HAND-BLOWN ART GLASS PUMPKIN PATCH
OCTOBER 11-13, 10 A.M. ‘ 5 P.M.

La Nebbia Winery is converted into a glistening glass pumpkin patch featuring the work of artist and glass blower Douglass C. Brown. Over 1,000 handcrafted, one-of-a-kind glass pumpkins will be available for purchase. There will also be hot glass demonstrations for visitors to see how the pumpkins are created, 50 free gifts given away each day, & La Nebbia Winery will be open for guests to partake in wine tasting and to purchase bottles of wine.

41ST ANNUAL SAFEWAY WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP PUMPKIN WEIGH-OFF
OCTOBER 13, 7 A.M. ‘ 11 A.M.

It’s the annual weigh-off for the largest pumpkin, but this year there a special $30,000 bonus mega-prize to be awarded to any grower that breaks the world record at Half Moon Bay, considered the ‘Super Bowl of Weigh-Offs.’

44TH ANNUAL HALF MOON BAY ART & PUMPKIN FESTIVAL
OCTOBER 18-19, 9 A.M. ‘ 5 P.M.

Admission to the festival is free. There are enough events that you can fill both days with fun, not to mention the booths full of art and crafts. There will be three stages of live music, the Great Pumpkin Parade (Oct. 18 at 12 noon), a scarey Haunted House, home-style foods, pie-eating and costume contests, pumpkin carving and much more.

JEFF CLARK CELEBRITY GOLF CLASSIC
OCTOBER 24-25

This two-day event at the Half Moon Bay Golf Resort is a benefit for the Navy SEAL Foundation and Mavericks Water Patrol. Many of the top big wave surfers in the world will be at ‘The Classic’ for the opening of the Mavericks season. The Heat Draw for the 2015 big wave contest at Mavericks will be held on Friday evening, October 24th, and October 25 will be the day of golf and other social activities.

COASTSIDE BREWFEST OCTOBER 25, 1 P.M. -5 P.M.

The Inaugural Coastside Brewfest at Half Moon Bay Brewing Company will include tastes of their favorite brews including Hop Dogma, Highway 1, Drakes, Marin Brewing Company, Moylans, 21st Amendment, Cellarmaker. A portion of the Brewfest proceeds will be donated to Coastside Hope.
