Great place. Nice room. Convenient location. Fully automated. I never saw a person there.

May be we found an exceptionally good deal, but this place (Montara Menthouse #10) felt so luxurious, especially considering the cheap price we paid! Parking is free and easy to find. The instructions to get there were so clear, it is worth mentioning. The penthouse looks big on the pictures because... it is big! Decorations are pretty. The host is very easy to contact, answers quickly, and is friendly and professional. The kitchen is fully equipped with good quality equipment - everything works perfectly and knifes are sharp (and we loved the mugs!). Bathroom is gigantic and clean. The bed is massive and comfortable, with tons of pillows and blankets. Living room is big and clean. It was sunny the whole week we stayed there, but on a rainy day, it would have been very cozy to stay inside. The abundance of windows made the place feels bright and clear day long, and the private balcony was a nice place to chill and to admire the sunset. It is at a 20 minutes walk in straight line to the beach and the coastal trail, so we went there everyday. Few tips worth mentioning; I worked from there during the day and I lost the (free) wifi almost once a day for quite some times each time - have a backup plan if you have meetings. When the sun is at its peak, the place can turn into an oven - close the windows and curtains during the day to avoid that, and open the windows to chill the penthouse in the evening/night/morning. Curtains in the penthouse are well made and block the heat very well. If you are very noise-sensitive, note that this is in downtown Half Moon Bay, so lots of action and noise mostly during the day, and it gets quieter after 8ish pm.

The good. The location was right on main street in the heart of the Half Moon Bay business district (a 20 min walk to the beach). The room was large and well-appointed. There was tea/coffee/hot chocolate easily available at all times. The not so good: The Inn is surrounded by a 2 story U shaped strip mall. That leaves you a choice, keep you shades down and let everyone see in or keep them up and not get natural light. The dark curtain between the bed and the shower area was see-through. Not a problem as I was with my wife, but it might be for others. The breakfast buffet never materialized on either day. There were oranges, bananas and apples in a basket that remained there all day. There appears to be no one onsite to address any issue. Check in was disjointed. We received an email that we would get a code for the door. No code came, just "****". We called and eventually were put through to someone who gave us the door codes (2 separate ones for the front door and the room). Were to input the codes is initially somewhat of a mystery. It is on the door lock itself, but that is dark until you put in the 1st number hoping that you hit the right spot. They say free parking--but that's only for 2 hours. It is unclear if you can park in the lot behind the strip mall. To park out front you pay the Inn (it was $12, but there were $3 in fees and taxes charged on top of that, which seemed like a lot). In the morning we could hear some traffic on Main Street. We were in room 1, closest to Main Street.

Prime location in the heart of Main Street! Super easy to get in and access our room, it was clean and had everything we needed. Bed was really comfortable too. Really enjoyed our stay, would definitely book here again!
