Abstract painting featuring intersecting teal lines over a textured background of muted beige, gray, and ochre tones. The composition includes various brushstrokes, smudges, and layered patches of color, creating a sense of depth and movement. The teal lines form angular shapes and pathways across the canvas, contrasting with the softer, more diffuse areas of color.

Audrey Tulimiero Welch layers feelings, memories, and impressions in her daring abstract paintings. She documents life with an intimate cartography, employing mark making loaded with precision, rhythm, tension, and balance. Her wayfinding touchpoints are meticulously designed using color, form, and line. The result is formally and intuitively beautiful work.

Art critic Richard Speer takes note of Welch’s “duets between straight lines and gestures, structure and fluidity, opacity and translucence; the interior psychic world and the exterior world of society…; and the tension between the planned and [in Welch’s words] ‘the improvisational, the unknown, chance, and the unexpected.’”

Welch received her BFA from the University of Delaware, MFA from the Art Institute of Boston at Lesley University, and pursued additional studies at Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts and the Art Students League in New York City. Living abroad in Indonesia, Thailand, and Australia from 2002-2016 played an important role in her stylistic development. Welch’s work has been exhibited in over fifty solo and group exhibitions in the U.S. and internationally, and is included in numerous public and private collections. Today, Welch lives and works in Half Moon Bay.
