Loading...

Explore the role and function of the human brain and how memory is essential to what makes us “human.” Discover ideas on how memories are made and what can go wrong when disease occurs. Rodney Pearlman will also provide guideposts for what is “normal aging” as distinct from serious diseases such as the various forms of dementia, and some helpful lifestyle habits to strengthen our brains.

Rodney Pearlman, Ph.D. was President of The Bluefield Project to Cure Frontotemporal Dementia. Bluefield is a non-profit foundation based in San Francisco that manages a consortium of 20 researchers focused on developing treatments for this devastating neurodegenerative disease.

Rodney was formerly Senior Vice President of Research and Development at the gene therapy company Valentis, and previously a Director of Pharmaceutical Research and Development at Genentech.

At Genentech his team developed novel formulations, processes and delivery systems for a number of recombinant human proteins. He also led the Project team for Nutropin human growth hormone through its NDA approval.

Rodney taught at the University of Texas in Austin and was previously a Senior Scientist with Eli Lilly and Company. Rodney received his Ph.D. in pharmaceutical chemistry from the University of Kansas in the area of delivery of drugs to the brain. He received his B.
